Weekend Overview

The National Sweetheart Pageant weekend is designed to celebrate scholarship, leadership, and service—while providing a polished, welcoming experience for contestants and families. All competition takes place the McFerren Park Civic Center.

Orientation

Contestants arrive in Hoopeston on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. They will be treated to a dinner held in their honor and be given a run through of the week.


Rehearsals & Stage Run-Through

Throughout the week, rehearsals will be held to work on blocking, timing, and stage confidence—so every contestant knows what to expect.


Interview & Community Service Focus

On Friday, contestants will participate in a professional interview experience that highlights purpose, leadership, and impact. Contestants will also participate in a community service project.


Preliminary and Final Competitions

Preliminary competition beings at 6:30 pm on Saturday. Final competition begins at 6:30 pm on Sunday. Doors will open 1 hour before competition.

Where will the event be held?

Preliminary and final competition takes place at the McFerren Park Civic Center.

What is the recommended arrival time?

Doors will open 1 hour prior to the competition time.

What accommodations are available?

Hoopeston does not have a hotel, but there are several located nearby. Here are links to the lodging sections of the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for Vermilion County (Danville – located 30 min. away) or Visit Champaign County (Champaign-Urbana – located 50 min. away). There are also several AirB&B/VRBO locations available.

Awards are presented during the final program. Titleholders and scholarship recipients are also highlighted on our Winners page.
